Leatherhead Swimming Club may have been one of the smallest teams there, but their 11 swimmers dominated the podium at the South-East Regional short-course championships at Aldershot last weekend.

They won 20 medals – six gold, nine silver and five bronze – achieved ten national qualifying times, broke 15 club records and set 93 per cent personal bests.

Four swimmers carried home gold medal trophies: 17 year old Hannah Shore took the open 100m fly in a time of 1:02.89 as well as the open 100m freestyle (58.27s); 14 year old breaststroke specialist Chloe Bean stormed both the open 100m breaststroke as well as the junior (under 16s) event in a time of 1:12.51s; 16 year old David Andrews powered his way to gold in the junior 50m breaststroke (31.11s); and 17 year old Charlotte Hobbs won a decisive gold in the open 100m backstroke in a time of 1:03.30.

Six swimmers collected silver medals: 16 year old Liam Mellett for both the junior 50m freestyle (24.95s) and junior 100m freestyle (53.96s); 16 year old Lauren Parsons in the open and junior 1500m (18:06.02); David Andrews for the open 50m breaststroke (31.11s) and junior 100m breaststroke (1:09.44); 14y old Chloe Bean in the junior 200m IM (2:24.84); Hannah Shore in the open 200m fly (2:15.07); and Charlotte Hobbs in the open 200m backstroke (2:14.16).
