Epsom & Ewell’s Jacob Paul took the silver medal in the England boys’ U15 pentathlon championship at Birmingham last weekend.

The 14-year-old began well, taking second place in the 80m hurdles in 11.62 seconds.

He then slipped to third place after finishing third in the long jump with 5.76m, adding 10cm to his previous best. He remained in third spot despite taking sixth place in the shot with 10.27m.

He was still third going into the final event, the 800m, after finishing third equal in the high jump with 1.64m.

He clinched the silver medal with a stunning 800m, which he won by more than two seconds in 2:07.00.

He scored 2930 points, just 96 points behind the gold medal winner.

St Mary’s Richmond’s Tulsi Han- sla was 11th in the girls’ U15 pentathlon championship with 2665 points.

Her best effort came in the high jump, where she was third equal with 1.55m.
