Weybridge achieved a rare victory in Saturday's clash against Guildford.

Weybridge lost their opening pair, in the first nine overs, to the bowling of Jewell and were destined to have one of their rollercoaster innings.

Janmohamed (43) and Gifford (31) had a third wicket partnership of 75 before falling to Coombes within the space of seven overs. Coombes also took the next two wickets to finish with 4 for 20 off his ten overs.

Winslade (16) was joined by Bennett (28n.o.) and they steadied the innings before Livett entered the fray and, in the space of four overs, transformed the game with six fours and two sixes in his 43 off only sixteen balls.

Turner’s was the last wicket to fall as Weybridge finished a run short of 200 off their allotted overs.

The ball had not been coming on to the bat, so Weybridge were confident that it could well be a winning score.

Kalam (24) and Guildford’s captain, R Skidmore (23), had other thoughts with an opening partnership of 45 in only eight overs off Weybridge’s opening bowlers.

The introduction of spin saw Zaf Ansari take the first of his wickets and the run rate slowed considerably.

Weybridge fielded well and took some very good catches. Livett’s catch to dismiss Bowers giving Ansari his fourth wicket summed up the team’s confidence.

Good management of the bowlers, especially the spinners, by Court was a key factor as Weybridge achieved a rare victory with four overs to spare.
