Three unattached runners headed the field in the Wimbledon Common parkrun this week, writes Charles Lawrie.

In his fifth appearance, Matt De Freitas (VM40-44) won for the first time in a time of 17:11, beating his personal best by 14 seconds.

Clinton Thomas (SM25-29) took second place by 17 seconds in 17:28. Scott Barnes (SM25-29) was third in a time of 17:33.

The first woman home was third-timer Emma Tomlinson (SW30-34) of Ranelagh Harriers in a time of 20:13, breaking her PB by a very impressive 35 seconds.

She finsihed ahead of unattached runner Zoe Phillips (VW40-44) by 43 seconds.

Another unattached runner, Geraldine Hellings, (VW45-49) came third in 21:41.

In today's age-graded competition, De Freitas recorded a performance of 79.44 per cent.

In the points competition Andrew K Davies has a lead of 116 points over second-placed Ian Higgins.

Nicola El Kadiri leads Geraldine Hellings by 213 in the women's competition.

This week there were 24 first timers.

Twenty-nine runners recorded PBs, bringing the total number since the Wimbledon Common started to 3,095.

In this time, 2,827 runners from 163 different clubs have completed the race 12,027 times covering a distance of 60,135km.

The male course record is held by Russell Dessaix-Chin who ran 15:12 on 09/05/09, event #123. The female equivalent is held by Justina Heslop who ran 17:49 on 15/09/07, event #37.
