Runners are being invited to take part in this year’s Elmbridge 10k road race, which takes place on Sunday, July 26.

Beginning at Xcel Leisure Centre in Walton-on-Thames, the race features a fast, flat and scenic course run both on the road and along the riverside towpath.

Here is a great chance for you to take part in a top class road race on your doorstep. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced club runner, the Elmbridge 10k is an ideal challenge.

This annual event attracts around 600 runners including many elite runners from clubs far and wide as well as members of the local community .

The event is also an official Surrey Road League race so many teams are expected to enter.

The race takes place on Sunday 26th July at 9.00am and starts at the Xcel Leisure Centre, Waterside Drive, Walton-on-Thames.

It is a fast, flat and scenic course run both on the road and along the riverside towpath.

The course records were set in 2004 by Kassa Tadesse of Belgrave Harriers (30.33 minutes) and Charlotte Dale of Kent Invicta (33.52 minutes). Other winners have included former World 5000m Champion and Olympic Silver Medallist Sonia O’Sullivan.

All finishers will receive a Gold, Silver or Bronze Medal and there are many age-category and team prizes.

The race is sponsored by Air Products and each year a donation from funds raised is made to Surrey Crossroads Elmbridge Branch, a charity that helps relieve the stress of the carer or family responsible for the care of a person with a disability or illness.

If you would like to find out more about how to enter, go to www.elmbridgeroadrunners.co.uk where all details and entry forms can be found.
