A strong second place in the final Ebbisham League match at Sutton on Sunday was enough to clinch the title for the Croydon Harriers U13 and U15 boys.
The star performance however was a non-scoring discus best of 43.29m from Faraz Rafi which lifts him to second in the UK U15 rankings. He also won the scoring shot put, his top effort being 11.77m.
Patrick Lucas was in excellent form on the track, running away from his rivals to take the U15 800m in 2.10.70 seconds, followed it up admirably in the 400m which he won in 60.6.
Young Harvey Stainthorpe showed admirable team spirit following a morning triathlon win with a gutsy second in the U13 800m in 2.29.8.
The sprinters and hurdlers turned out in effective force scoring six event maximums.
Team captain Josh Atille scorched home in the 100m in 11.2 and anchored the club’s winning 4x200m to victory in 1.41.70.
Aaron Adekoya and Ryan Gondo were double winners for the U13s. Adekoya took the long jump at 4.53m and the 200m in 28.4sec while Gondo showed excellent form in the 80m hurdles which he won in 13.0sec and the 100m which he headed in 13.2sec.
