It was unlucky 13 for Surrey as they travelled to High Wycombe BC to take on Buckinghamshire CBA last week and were beaten 122-112 in a county friendly.

This was only the second reverse in County Friendlies for President Aga Hassan this season and Surrey fairly wilted in the heatwave to lose by just 10 shots.

At one stage Surrey were many shots down during the early ends but they gradually mounted a recovery and were only three shots adrift with just 14 ends remaining. But Buckinghamshire held on and extended their lead to 10 shots to end Surrey’s run of six successive wins.

Best performing rink for Surrey was that off Brian Wilkinson (Croydon MO), Terry James (Farnham), David Sowden (Epsom) and Mike Reed (Croydon M.O.) who won comfortably by 29-16.

Surrey President Aga Hassan also had the pleasure of handing a County Badge and tie to two ex-Buckinghamshire bowlers now playing in Surrey. They were Mark Sumner and Anthony Parrott, both of Weybridge BC, who reached the semi-finals of the Fours competition in 2008.
