Surrey completed a disappointing Middleton Cup campaign by finishing bottom of their group after a 127-111 defeat by Hampshire at Atherley BC in Southampton.

Hampshire finish top of the group as the only county to have won three of their four matches to earn a place in the national quarter-finals.

Surrey were very much in the match after 16 ends when they trailed by just four shots, but they rarely seem to finish with a flourish.

Manager David Candeland felt his Surrey side lacked the enthusiasm shown by their hosts in another disappointing performance.
