A devastating spell of bowling by Mark Kelly, who took six wickets in five overs and finished with 7-40, set Dulwich up for a comprehensive nine-wicket victory in their Surrey Championship Division One clash with Esher.

Dulwich chose to field first and got off to a good start when Arshad Iftikhar struck in his first over. He and Kelly regularly beat the bat but were made to wait by Alex Szepietowski and Charlie Russell who added 37 in 12 overs for the second wicket.

Kelly then struck twice in the 13th over, having Szepietowski caught behind by James Balmforth for 10 and Indian overseas player Sohail Ahmed lbw without scoring.

Two more wickets followed in the next 2 overs to reduce Esher to 43-5. Richard Beeching then joined the attack and his second ball saw Russell fall to a brilliant one handed catch by Raza Das for 25.

Two balls later he claimed a second wicket, having keeper Kane lbw without scoring. Kelly picked up two more wickets in his next two overs, reducing Esher to 52-9, having lost 8 wickets for only 15 runs.

L Mendis and Henry Witten put on 12 for the last wicket, the second highest stand of the innings, before Kelly dismissed Witten for 4.

Mendis finished on 8 not out as Esher were dismissed for 64.

Kelly, whose figures had been 0-23 after 6 overs and 6-32 after 11, finished with 7-40 after 13.5 overs.

Iftikhar had 1-16 off 8 overs and Beeching 2-4 off 5 overs.

In reply Balmforth started positively, smashing 18 off 22 balls before falling in the 5th over with the score on 24.

Anil Mahey and Dar, both making their first appearances of the season, then knocked off the runs - reaching their target in only 13.3 overs. Mahey finished on 25 off 41 balls and Dar 22 off 20.

Dulwich's win lifts them off the bottom of the table and sets them up nicely for next week's visit to Purley.
