Woodmansterne 3rd XI recorded their second league win of the season at Frimley on Saturday.

Things did note bode well when Benson lost the toss and Frimley elected to field.

Woods opened with Dave Edwards and Chris Munday and made a reasonable start before, with the score on 24 both Edwards (10) and Munday (8) were out in successive balls.

This brought Steve Scott and George Sims to the crease and both were looking comfortable and a decent partnership was forming when at 58-2 George Sims (15) and John Hicks (0) were again out in successive balls, to leave Woods at 58-4.

This brought last week’s man of the match Neal Fraser to the crease to join Steve Scott. Together they batted in a controlled and sensible manner, making a platform for Woods to build on.

With the score on 121, Steve Scott (52) misjudged a chip over mid-wicket and was caught.

This was the start of a Woods collapse, with the next five wickets falling for just 10 runs, leaving Evan Whyte as the not out batsman and Woods on a total of 131.

After tea Frimley were set the target of 132 off a massive 59 overs. Woods opened the bowling with Ted Giles and George Sims and although Frimley started well hitting ten runs off the first 2 overs.

However the runs then became hard to come by, before Ted Giles took two quick wickets to leave Frimley on 21-2.

Once his spell was completed George Sims (0-14) was replaced by Woods batting hero Steve Scott. Between them Ted (6-19) and Steve (4-19) proceeded to rip through the remaining Frimley batsmen to dismiss them for only 54 runs to record their second league win of the season.

The bowlers were ably supported throughout by good fielding and the fact that Woods took seven of the eight catches that came their way
