By winning eight of the 12 events on offer, Kingston & Polytechnic stopped a hat-trick bid by St Mary’s Richmond in the third Rosenheim League West Division match at Ewell Court.

Kingston’s Matt Field took the first event of the evening, the 110m hurdles, in 15.0, while Ron Taylor won the 800m and Tom Butcher the 100m.

There were further successes as James Moroney won the 400m, Justin Green the 200m and Patrick Hillyer the triple jump before Kingston took the 4x200m relay.

St Mary’s Richmond’s Paul Derrien gained a hat-trick of successes in the pole vault, discus and hammer. The club’s other winner was Jimmy Goulis in the 3,000m.

St Mary’s Richmond gained a comfortable win in the women’s match to overtake Kingston & Polytechnic, winners of the opening two fixtures, in the overall standings.

Teenager Nadia Harvey, in the hammer, Julia Pearce, in the pole vault, and veteran 400m runner Liz Killip were St Mary’s Richmond’s individual winners. St Mary’s also took the 4x200m relay.

Walton’s Kaylee Price took the 100m hurdles and Jo Locker the 1,500m, while Kingston & Polytechic’s only success came in the 200m through Mary Iheke.

Epsom & Ewell provided two winners, with Zoe West and Emily Hallett taking the 800 and 3,000m respectively.
