Herne Hill’s Julien Allwood confirmed his ranking as the UK’s top U17 triple jumper by winning the South of England title at Ashford last weekend, recording 14.18m.
Katie Snowden broke the Herne Hill club record in finishing as the runner-up in the women’s U17s 800m (2:08.80).
Snowden sat back as the leaders set a scorching pace and made her bid with 250m to go, but was just unable to catch the winner.
However, she becomes the first Herne Hill U17 runner to break the 2:10 barrier, and her time is inside the qualifying mark for July’s World Youth Championships in Italy but, as she is only 15, she is too young to compete.
Funto Fabunmi-Alade also won a silver medal in a tight finish to the women’s U17 200m (25.49). Jonathan Grant was third in the U17 long jump (6.68m).
Meanwhile, Taj Johnson took bronze in the U15 long jump with a final jump of 5.70m, a lifetime best.
Sutton & District’s George Munt took silver in the boys’ U15 400m in a lifetime best of 52.41.
