Surrey bounced back from their disappointing Home Counties League defeat by Middlesex in last week’s opener to win 128-106 at reigning champions Oxfordshire at Thame on Saturday.

Tean manager Dave Candeland said: “We showed true guts and determination against a very good team.

“There were some outstanding performances by the Surrey players and their attitude was spot on.

“I want players that are going to give 100 per cent every time they pull on a Surrey shirt - and I certainly got that today.”

Although each county won three rinks, Surrey took 16 of the 22 league points up for grabs with Ian Honnor and Graham Vigor’s rinks enjoying big wins.

Oxfordshire’s only defeat in 2008 came against Surrey and they won all their remaining matches on their way to the 2008 championship.
