Ashford played two friendly games, one league game and one National Competition this week.

The midweek team played five rinks of triples against Esher.

Ashford won three and drew one with Esher winning the fifth triple. Ashford were always just ahead and finished winning by 11 shots.

D.Ayton Snr, P.Collins, L.Reason produced Ashfords top score of 19 - 8.

Ashford just managed to edge out Bishop Duppas in an exciting match. Ashford began by winning the 2 Wood singles, but Bishop Duppas levelled the match winning the 4 Wood singles.

The next game to finish was the Triples, which saw Ashford win comfortably. However the match was far from over with Bishop Duppas leading in the fours and Ashford only just ahead in the Pairs.

Bishop Duppas duly won the fours, but by then the Ashford Pair had built up a considerable lead which was enough to give their Ashford team a 3 - 2 victory.

After the mornings victory, some of the Ashford players turned out again for the afternoons league match.

Ashford played even better in the afternoon and wiped the floor with their opponents to take all four available points.

At the half way stage it looked as if NPL might grab a point from Ashford.

However any chance of that disappeared as that Ashford rink finished strongly and turned a 7 -11 deficit into a comfortable 29 - 15 win.

Top scorers for Ashford were A.Tanner, N.Addecott, O.Higson, K.Woodhead with that 29 - 15 win.

This was the first match between the two clubs for more than 20 years. The game was evenly matched for most of the afternoon until Ashford collapsed dramatically on the last four ends and gifted the match to Chertsey.

Chertsey won three rinks to Ashfords two rinks. The highest winning rink for Ashford were J.Gammon, A.Blair, K.Woodhead, W.Moody with a score of 34 - 14.
