Kingston Grammar School’s batsmen have been in spectacular run-scoring form this season, with four boys notching up hundreds so far.
Three of the centurions belong to the U15 XI, with two, Guy Morris, 15, from Richmond, and George Sams, also 15, from Teddington, scoring not-out hundreds in the same match, an emphatic victory over Westminster School.
The third was scored by Andrew Harper, 15, from New Malden, who scored 110 not-out in a 62 run win against St Joseph’s College.
The fourth century came from Tom Beaumont, 17, of Thames Ditton, scoring half the runs in the 2nd XI’s 31 run victory over Southwark Clergy.
As is the school tradition, each boy was presented with a new bat in recognition of his achievement.
Head of Cricket James Schofield expressed his pleasure that so many players were in the runs.
"The success of these boys shows how healthy the cricket is at KGS," he said, "and it will have knock-on effect as other players strive to emulate their feats."
"I’m particularly pleased to have such good young players coming through – the future looks very rosy indeed."
Schofield’s comments were borne out when the KGS U12A team beat the KGS U12B team in the final of the Mayor’s Borough Cup.
