Belgrave international Phil Wicks (above left) dropped out after 25km of Sunday’s marathon as planned after pacing the second set of elite runners.
He said: “It was a great experience and next year I hope to compete in my own right as an elite athlete.”
Wicks expects to represent Britain in the European 10,000m track race in Madeira, Portugal, on June 6, and the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Birmingham on October 11.
