Molesey Boat Club captain Andy Triggs-Hodge looks set to kick off his campaign for London 2012 by ditching the event that saw him crowned Olympic chamion in the men’s four last summer.

GB Rowing have announced the 30-year-old will be nominated to race alongside fellow Beijing gold medalist Pete Reed in the men’s pair at the first World Cup regatta of the new Olympiad in May.

The duo were both in the triumphant men’s coxless four crew in China and were twice world champions in the blue riband event, will switch their focus to the two man event.

Triggs-Hodge has experimented with the single sculls in recent weeks and performed well in the event at the GB trials, and is looking forward to applying his experience to a new challenge.

"The last four years have been a great education. I learnt so much about racing, but we have a lot more to learn and I am looking forward to exploring the new arena of pairs rowing with Pete,” he said.

“We have a great and proven pairs coach in Jurgen Grobler. It’s an exciting time and I’m focused on seeing how fast this pair can be.”
