The Epsom College girls’ senior cricket XI got their season off to a winning start this week, beating a strong Wellington College side by seven wickets.
Epsom won the toss and put Wellington in to bat, reducing them to 135-9 in the alloted 20 overs. Pick of the bowlers were Sophie Reynolds, who took 2 wickets for 3 runs, and Alice Davidson-Richards with figures of 2 for 28. Natasha Nichols, Natasha Barsby and Susie Blunt also picked up a wicket apiece.
Alice Davidson-Richards led the reply with the bat scoring an impressive 47, ably supported by Natalie Sciver with 43 not out as Epsom powered to 136-3 with four overs to spare.
This win will give the girls plenty of confidence for the rest of the season. They are due to meet Wellington again when they play in a Sunday tournament on 17th May.
