A new junior golf competition is coming to Sunbury Golf Centre.

The Crown Golf Junior Tour Series 2008 incorporates seven qualifying events, in which golfers from all ages and abilities can compete.

Fourteen young golfers from each qualifier will progress through to a grand final, being held at Mill Green Golf Club, Welwyn Garden City, Herts, on Sunday, September 14.

A qualifying event is being held at Shepperton-based Sunbury Golf Centre on Monday, 18th August. Golfers with an official handicap will compete in an 18-hole Stableford event, with the three best gross scores and three best net scores making the final.

Youngsters without a handicap will play in a 9-hole, short-course Strokeplay event, with three age groups: 7 and under; 10 and under and 13 and under. The two players with the lowest scores for each age group will make the Tour Series Final with a prize presentation and supper.

The event costs £10 to enter, with a closing date for entries of Monday, August 11.

Brodie Pearmaine, general manager of Sunbury said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for all children to try their hand at golf in a friendly but competitive environment.

“It will be great fun and we look forward to welcoming all the young golfers who take part.”
