Martyn Rooney continued his fine form last night when he ran another personal best in his final warm up race before the Olympics.

The 21-year-old Croydon Harrier ran 44.72 seconds in Monaco, more than a tenth faster than his previous best set at Crystal Palace on Saturday and confirmed him as a sub 45 second man.

Rooney was one of three athletes who ran under 45 seconds last night, finishing 0.18 seconds ahead of Jamaican Ricardo Chambers and 0.23 seconds ahead of Leslie Djhone from France.

The time moves him up to ninth in the world this year and further enhances his chances of making the Olympic final next month.
