Cheam-based Kevin Quinn finished more than three minutes clear of the field in Saturday's Elmore 7 race in Coulsdon.

Quinn was almost two minutes faster than the time he set in winning last year's race.

More than 270 runners finished the charity event, held in conjunction with the Chipstead Flower Show, with Aldershot & Farnham's Kevin Pawel Bal from host club South London Harriers was second in 39.45, with Stragglers' Wayne Smith third.

SLH's Chris Phelan was the second-placed over-40 runner and was fifth overall in 40.07, Sutton's Luis Gomez was sixth, with SLH's Phil Scarles eighth in 41.11.

Ian Kitching was the first over-50 veteran in 41.39, and Clive Beauvais the first over-60 runner in 46.25.

The first woman home was Meera Siva, of Reigate Priory, in 45.29, with SLH's Carol Evans second in 46.47.

A number of SLH runners then turned their attentions to the Elmbridge 10K race on Sunday, part of the Surrey Road League.

Bal was ninth in 34.12, with Andy Evans 22nd, David Baker 23rd, Phelan 28th, Kitching 32nd and Paul Hone 40th, to give the team second place overall.

The best of the women runners was Becky Woodland, the sixth senior woman, who came home in 109th place overall.

l Richard Lee-Smith led Striders of Croydon's 24 finishers in the Elmore 7.

He finished 22nd out of the 273 finishers in 45 minutes, 15 seconds, and was closely followed by club secretary Chris Morton in 25th (45.45) and veteran Bob Ewen in 27th (46.06).

Striders' first woman was Suzy Yates in 81st (52.13), followed by Josephine Thompson in 90th (53.21) and Stephanie Upton in 92nd (53.44).

l South London Harriers women extended their lead at the top of Division One with their third win in a row at Walton.

The seniors dominated the competition, winning 15 of the 18 races.

Natalie Bartley produced another sprint double win in the 100m and 200m, while Jessica Case improved her 400m time to 59.5 seconds to win her race.

There was another 800m win for Michelle Jenkins in 2.23.30 minutes and Georgie Bruinvels ran away from the opposition to win the 3,000m (10.34.30).

Case continued her season with another double in the hurdles, winning both the 100m (16.6) and 400m (1:07.7).
