Wokingham 62 (Alison McCreedy 13-2) Ashford 63-2 (Alison McCreedy 23*, Fiona Grant 23)

Ashford's stunning Women's Cricket Southern League Division Four season continued with a comprehensive win at Wokingham.

A depleted home side, with only six batsmen, neverless took the fight to Ashford, led by their captain, Janet Rogers.

She batted confidently, with good support from Fitzpayne, and while they were together a good total was always a possibility.

A couple of half chances didn't go to hand, and the 50 partnership came up in only the 11th over, which included a 6 over square leg from Rogers.

The breakthrough came in the next over, with Rogers trapped lbw by Alison McCreedy.

Ashford debutant Tiffany Skinner picked up another wicket, then pulled off a fine run out with a wonderful direct hit from point.

Fitzpayne continued to resist the pressure, finishing unbeaten on 21, but the Wokingham innings ended in the 16th over, Briony Smith taking the last wicket.

Ashford openers Gill Bonham and Fiona Grant started positively, but it was Wokingham's turn to show their excellence in the field, Bonham falling victim to another direct hit run out, the throw coming in from Rogers.

Grant and McCreedy almost finished things off, hitting 9 boundaries between them in a partnership of 53 before Grant was bowled with just three more needed, but by then the job was done.

Ashford's fourth win on the trot will keep them near the top of the table.

Just as important could be today's almost maximum haul of bonus points, which may prove crucial at the end of the season.
