England Juniors narrowly lost to a team of experienced former internationals at St George's Hill Rackets and Fitness Club, Weybridge, on Monday night.

The large crowd was treated to a fine display of squash from the youngsters, who head to Zurich next week for the World Junior Championships.

First on court was Alex Ingham, the England junior number three, who took on former world number 13 Danny Meddings.

Ingham took the first game only to lose his initiative as Meddings played near perfect squash to level the match.

Once again Ingham drew ahead, winning the third game before Meddings regained control to run out a worthy 3-2 winner in 58 minutes.

Adrian Waller, at 6ft 4in a giant of junior squash, faced Irish international Steve Richardson. Waller prevailed in a hard-fought three games to level the match.

The decider between Walton's 18-year-old Joe Lee and the evergreen Steve Meads (38) was a closely contested affair. Lee took the first game using his pace to good advantage but Meads came back to level, reeling in the youngster with clever tactics. Lee held decent leads in both the third and fourth games and Meads needed all his experience to just sneak home.

Justin Price, of England Squash, was on hand to present the club with it's Silver Charter Award as recognition for the way that squash is promoted and organised at St George's Hill.
