Dulwich 228 (61.5) Sunbury 215-9 (58)

A brilliant 126 by Zoheb Sharif, his second hundred in successive weeks, saw Dulwich to a total of 228 all out in their Surrey Championship Premier Division match against Sunbury.

But Dulwich were unable to force victory as their oponents hung on to finish on 215-9 and secure a winning draw.

Put in to bat, Dulwich got off to a good start, as Sharif and Richard Farrow posted their fifth opening partnership of 50 or more in seven innings together.

Farrow played second fiddle to Sharif, scoring 11 of their opening partnership of 57 before falling to John Maunders.

Raza Dar and Mark Kelly followed quickly to reduce Dulwich to 71-3 after 20 overs.

Tom Howe then joined Sharif in a stand of 68 in 17.1 overs for the fourth wicket before falling to the left-arm spin of skipper Luke Woodward for 29.

Anil Mahey was stumped off Woodward for five, whereupon Sharif was joined by Adam McDonogh in a stand of 51 in eight overs for the sixth wicket.

Sharif's dismissal for 126, made off 143 balls, with the score on 206, sparked a collapse in which the last five wickets fell for 22 runs in 12 overs.

Woodward took four of them to finish with 6-66 off 16.5 overs.

When Sunbury batted, Duwlich were quick to strike, as McDonogh has Max Hall caught in the slips in his second over and 17-year-old Seamus Betts had Matt Golding caught in the slips in his third - his first wicket for the first XI in the championship.

From 16-2 after six overs Sunbury fought back with a third-wicket stand of 63 from just 15 overs by Woodcock and Olly Roland-Jones.

The latter was bowled by Dulwich skipper Kelly for 27 just before tea, and John Irons followed soon after, also bowled by Kelly with the score on 101.

Woodcock was now joined by the former Middlesex and Leicestershire opener Maunders, batting with a runner after suffering a groin strain while bowling.

Maunders' lack of mobility against tight bowling by Kelly and Dar restricted the pair to 41 for the fifth wicket in 15.4 overs.

Both fell to Kelly, Woodcock being caught behind for 72 and Maunders lbw for 20.

At 151-6 in the 45th over Dulwich had hopes of forcing victory, but a quick 18 off 16 balls by young keeper Shane White helped add 25 in 3.2 overs with Toby Roland-Jones to put Sunbury back in the hunt.

Matthew Todd fell in the 51st over 181-8, but Dulwich were again thwarted as Roland-Jones and Adam Stanier thrashed 31 off 4.2 overs before Roland-Jones was run out for 31 off 32 balls with the score on 212 and 11 balls remaining.

Stainer secured the two runs needed to secure a winning draw for Sunbury and then played out the last over to finish on 13 not out as Sunbury closed on 215-9.

Dar and Kelly bowled the last 39 overs unchanged with Dar taking 1-73 off 20 overs and Kelly 5-68 off 19.

Dulwich picked up only one point for the losing draw and remain in ninth place in the league ahead of next week's clash with bottom club Sutton.
