Chessington climbed to the top of Surrey Championship Division Three after their sixth win of the season on Saturday, a six-wicket victory over bottom side Cranleigh.

Youngster Taidhg Randall and Luke Carter starred with the ball as Cranleigh struggled to make an impact having been put into bat.

Warburton looked good, with Martin supporting, but Carter struck twice in two balls with the score on 31. Warburton (26) was fantastically caught by Carter off his own bowling, just above the turf, having hit what looked like a good solid straight drive. Graves was next to go, caught behind by Francis.

Carter was involved again when Cranleigh captain Richard Bowers gave him an easier catch at cover from Andy Robson's bowling to leave the score at 50-4.

Richard Lake played aggressively in making 41 off 44 balls as he and Stuart Martin put on 60 for the fifth wicket. Ritchie Singleton picked up Lake's important wicket, deceiving him with his left-arm spin to hit the stumps.

Overseas player Chris Norman was bowled around his legs by the same bowler. A mix-up gave away another wicket to a run-out, leaving Cranleigh in big trouble on 118-7.

Randall came back for a third spell and deservedly picked up a couple of wickets while Martin's valuable dogged innings was finally brought to an end on 50 when Carter took another superb caught and bowled.

Chessington felt that they should be able to chase the target of 157 fairly comfortably. Peplow (10) went early trying to hit over the top against a dual spin attack but Nick Bailey (31) and Andy White put on 58 to put Chessy well on their way.

Carter's quick 23 from 17 took the score past 100 and, with White looking comfortable, at one end the game was only going one way.

Alex Yarnley took his time before playing some fine cover drives, and Andy White went for 50.

White (52) was adjudged lbw to the left-arm spin of Warburton but only 11 more runs were required.

Yarnley (27) and Chris Norton (10) quickly knocked off the remaining runs to give Chessington the 13 points.

Egham's defeat at Warlingham and Worcester Park's losing draw at Old Wimbledonians meant that Chessy's sixth win of the season put them top of Division Three with 11 of 18 games played. Egham visit Chessington this Saturday in a real top of the table clash.
