Teddington skipper Toby Bailey has strengthened his batting line-up after signing record-breaking overseas right hander Salil Oberoi as a replacement for India U19 and Indian Cricket League star Abu Nechim.

Nechim has been unable to secure a visa to appear for Bailey's side this season, which has seen the captain pluck Oberoi from league rivals Hampstead's second eleven.

The 24-year-old Indian, who has played first class cricket for Delhi, broke a 74-year-old record when he made 247 for Oxford University against Cambridge University at Fenner's in 2005 - the highest score recorded in a Varsity match.

And Bailey is delighted to have secured his services as his side - which leads the Middlesex County League Premier Division by three points after last week's win at Winchmore Hill - look to mount a title assault.

"He couldn't get in the Hampstead first team as they already had an overseas player. He is far too good to be playing second team level. We were only too pleased to give him a chance here," he added.
