Carhalton boxer Lenny Daws believes he deserves another crack at the British title if he beats experienced Frenchman Mihaita Mutu at York Hall on Friday night.

The Hennessy Sports light-welterweight is chief support on the same bill as British super-bantamweight champion Esham Pickering versus Matthew Marsh on live on Sky Sports.

The Morden-born fighter lost his British Light-Welterweight Title to Scotland's Barry Morrison on points last year and is looking for another opportunity to prove he is the best of British.

Daws wants the winner of Morrison against new champion David Barnes on July 4 and sees beating Mutu as the ideal preparation.

"This is a chance for me to show I'm ready for another shot," said Daws.

"Mutu has got an eight round points win over Barry Morrison so he is no mug.

"If I can look good against Mutu, it will help my chances of fighting the winner of Barnes-Morrison or may be get me an eliminator.

"I was a little bit disappointed with my draw against Nigel Wright for the English Title last time out in November because I thought I did enough to win.

"But this fight will get me sharpened up and it will not be easy because he has challenged for the European title before.

"I want to get the win over him and then be ready for anyone, anytime."
