Leatherhead swimmers have amassed 42 medals after the first two weekends of the Surrey Championships. Thirteen have been golds with 15 silvers and 16 bronzes.

Leading the way at present is 12-year-old Jack Beddoes.

He started the previous weekend at Aldershot Garrison Pool, winning the boys' 12 years 1,500m freestyle in a personal best time of 18:48.79.

Last Saturday at Guildford Spectrum, he took gold in the 400m freestyle in a PB of 4:37.10, silver in the 200m individual medley with another PB of 2:32.46 and bronze for the boys' 200m backstroke in yet another PB of 2:36.97.

He followed these successes lat Sunday with two more gold medals and PBs, the 400m individual medley in 5:22.15 and the 200m freestyle with 2:12.44.

Chris Ashton, 17, who did not swim at Aldershot, picked up four medals last weekend, including gold in the open 200m individual medley with a PB of 2:09.25, and in the open 400m individual medley in another PB of 4:32.37.

He also won silver in the open 200m backstroke in a PB of 2:07.11.

All these efforts were also national championship qualifying times.

Stuart McCrea, 21, and Andrew Norman, 13, each won a gold medal and two silvers.

McCrea took gold in the open 200m backstroke with a PB of 2:05.05 and silver in the 400m and 200m freestyle.

Norman won gold in the boys' 13years 400m individual medley in a PB of 5:16.26, silver in the 200m backstroke in a PB of 2:23.74 and the 1,500m freestyle in a PB of 18:32.02.

Charlotte Hobbs and Shahira Ishak each won gold and silver over the last weekend, Hobbs taking the gold in the girls' 15 years 200m backstroke in a PB of 2:22.98 and silver in the 200m freestyle in another PB of 2:09.00.

Ishak won gold in the girls' 16 years 1,500m freestyle in 20:03.16 and silver in the 200m freestyle in 2:14.42, both PBs.

Nicola Cooke won gold in the girls 12 yrs 1500 freestyle at Aldershot in a PB of 19.15.54 and then bronze in the 800m freestyle in another PB of 10.08.81.

Last weekend she came third in the 200m freestyle and then the 400m freestyle with a PB of 4.53.77.

Allan Campbell performed brilliantly to take the gold medal in the boys 16yrs 200m backstroke with a PB of 2.15.10 and bronze medals in the 200m individual medley and 200m freestyle with a PB of 2.00.54.

Hannah Shore 15yrs won gold at Aldershot with a PB of 9.29.85 in the girls 15yrs 800m freestyle.

Rebecca Cooke swam a PB of 19.10.96 at Aldershott to win the silver medal in the girls 14yrs 1,500m freestyle and then last Sunday at Guildford came second in the 200m backstroke.

There were also two silver medals for open swimmer Chris Day both at Aldershot where he swam a PB of 9.31.05 to come second in the men's open 800m freestyle and another PB of 18.29.63 coming second in the 1500m freestyle.

Charlotte Robertson having won a silver medal in the 800m freestyle at Aldershot won bronze at Guildford last weekend in the 400m freestyle.

There was a silver medal for Sam Crowther 16yrs in the boys' 400 individual medley and Kristy Robertson in the girls 12yrs 200m backstroke.

Charlotte Harman collected bronze medals in the open 200m and 400m freestyle and 200m backstroke all in personal best times.

There were also Bronze medals for Grant Robe 16yrs in the open 400m freestyle with a PB of 4.08.38, David Andrews boys 14yrs IM with a PB of 2.24.00, Grace Archer in the girls 15yrs 200m IM with a PB of 2.27.74 and Lauren Parsons 15yrs, at Aldershot in the girls 15yrs 1500m freestyle with a PB of 19.36.57.

The next round of the Surrey Championships is at Guildford Spectrum on March 1-2.
