Britain's double European junior cross country champion Stephanie Twell, a student at St Mary's, Twickenham, enjoyed a comfortable victory in the the South of England junior women's 5km cross country event at Parliament Hill Fields on Saturday.

Twell, who has been pre- selected to run for Britain in the IAAF World Cross Country championships in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh, on March 30, faced no real challenge as she romped home in 19 minutes seven seconds, winning by 20 seconds.

Surrey champion Emily Adams finished a good eighth out of more than 300 runners in the senior women's 8km race in 33:24, with Surrey silver medallist Justina Heslop running another fine race to finish 18th in 35:04.

Belgrave's Sarah Murphy was 23rd in 35:40, just three seconds ahead of Thames Hare & Hounds' Megan Clark.

Clare King had one of her best races of the season to lead the injury-hit Ranelagh Harriers team to ninth place, just behind Surrey rivals South London Harriers.

King was 32nd in 36:28, with veteran clubmate Marie Synnott-Wells 57th in 37:39, just ahead of Belgrave's Tilly Heaton (37:43). Ranelagh's other team members, Estelle Damant and Karrie O'Connor, were 77th and 111th.

Herne Hill veteran Clare Pauzers was 68th in 38:07, with Thames Ditton-based South London Harrier Ruth Hutton 84th in 39:00.

Herne Hill's Hannah Edwards finished 16th out of almost 200 runners in the girls U15 4km race in 18:53.

St Mary's Richmond's U15 girls packed well to finish eighth in the team event, led home by Eloise O'Brien (58th in 20:11) with Madi Garner 66th in 20:29, Gabi Miles 69th in 20:38 and Katie Bryant 70th in 20:41.

Belgrave's Megan Evans was 61st in 20:19.

St Mary's Richmond's Katie Iliffe ran well to finish 29th out of more than 200 runners in the girls U13 3km championship in 13:41.

Clubmate Kate Brown was 33rd in the U17 5km race in 23:02, with Georeia Miansarow 54th in 24:15.

Completing the St Mary's team were Lucy Edmunds, 84th in 25:35, and Alina Mingham, 108th in 28:10.
