Former British Olympic athletics team manager Doug Goodman, a long serving member of Herne Hill Harriers and the Surrey County Athletic Association, has died aged 88.
Goodman collapsed while playing golf near his Salisbury home last Thursday.
In his younger days, Goodman was a cross country runner for Herne Hill, but it was as an administrator he really made his mark.
After stints as Herne Hill and Surrey secretary, he served as president of both Surrey County and the South of England Athletic Associations, following in the footsteps of his older brother, Ron.
Goodman was team manager for England at three Commonwealth Games in 1970, 1974 and 1978, and managed the British men's athletics team at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal and the 1978 European championships in Prague.
Herne Hill secretary Steve Bosley said: "Doug was an extremely likeable man who had a kind word for everyone. He will be sadly missed."
