West Ewell's Duncan Tappy has set his sights on a dream move to Formula One after his incredible 2007.

Having stormed to the Formula Renault UK Championship title, the Fortec driver was also crowned British Club Driver of the Year.

Tappy, who will compete in the Renault World Series next season, has set his sights high after his title triumph.

"It really has been an incredible year, particularly after the disappointment of 2006," said Tappy.

"I am competing in the Renault World Series next season, which is a stepping stone into Formula One.

"If I can have a good year, then who knows?"

Having been presented with his driver of the year award by F1 sensation Lewis Hamilton, winner of the same award in 2003, Tappy is determined to take the same route to the top.

"Formula One is the goal for me because that is the pinnacle," he said.

"But I am not blinkered, if that doesn't happen there are other avenues for me."

With 2007 being his second year competing in the Formula Renault UK Championship, 22-year-old Tappy admitted he felt the strain of carrying the weight of expectation.

"The season has been incredibly tough, every round was hard work," said Tappy.

"I could only ever drive at 110 per cent - I had to be flat out the whole time.

"This was the season I had to prove myself and thankfully that is what I managed to do.

"There was pressure on me because it was my second year, but that gave me the push I needed to succeed.

"I think joining Fortec before the season was the turning point for me.

"It took a bit of time for me to find the sponsorship - but the hard work has all been worth it.

"To get a seat in a championship-winning team was a big step in the right direction for me because I it gave me a chance to win the championshipany driver to know."
