Tommy Williams says he has unfinished business in the boxing ring.
The 28-year-old middleweight from Sutton relaunches his career at York Hall in Bethnal Green on Saturday when he takes on Ben Heap from Swindon.
He has been out of action since losing on points to Nicky Jenman in 2014.
Jenman has gone on to win the Southern Area middleweight championship - and now Williams has title ambitions of his own.
Williams said: "I feel I have some potential. My coaches have always believed in me, but I haven't really produced what I'm capable of yet.
“I still feel I can win titles and I'm going to give it everything I've got.
“I don't want to sit around thinking 'What if?' when I'm older."
Williams, who been in the ring more than 30 times as an amateur, is now being trained by Adam Martin and managed by Mickey Helliet.
Williams said: "I'm hoping Mickey can keep me busy and I'm looking to step up and start fighting over six and eight rounds as quickly as possible."
Williams took a break from boxing following the loss to Jenman, a vastly experienced southpaw from Brighton.
He said: "I'm usually relaxed and like to counter punch, but the late change of opponent threw me a bit and the game plan went out of the window.
"My inexperience showed. I still think I would have won the fight if I hadn't suffered a perforated ear drum in the first round because that really affected me.”
He added: "I took a break because I got married and had a lot of work commitments.
"The time is right for me to come back. Boxing is still my passion and I'm hoping that people will get behind me."
Tickets for the show at the York Hall are available from 07792 063149.
