Morden boxer Craig Whyatt came through his first bout in 16 months in victorious style and admitted he was not even breathing heavily at the final bell.
The 26-year-old (8-3-0) won a unanimous points decision over Croat Lukas Leskovic (3-11-0) after a four round contest at York Hall in Bethnal Green on Friday.
It the Carshalton-born man’s first win since April 2014, and his first bout since breaking his hand in a prize-fighter contest in December of the same year.
While Friday’s outing was a comfortable return, Whyatt wants the rounds under his belt to continue his return to a title shot.
“I did not know much about him [Leskovic], but I just took it as it came,” he said.
“I wanted to get the rounds in – it was only four rounds and I wanted to make sure I made the most of them.
“I cruised through it, I was not getting hit and I was hitting him. At the end I was not even breathing heavily.
“I was practising all the things I’ve been doing in training under my new coach - the single throws, the three-punch throws, getting my jab in, working on defence and moving away.”
He added: “I am looking to get back out there as quick as possible and next time will be six rounds.
“It is all important if I want to get back to title fights.”
