With 10 games unbeaten, Chessington really should have beaten relegation candidates Bedfont Green on Saturday, but on an excellent pitch at Yeading, in the face of some dreadful refereeing, could not match the determination of this young home team.

The visitors had to settle for a 2-2 draw after finishing with 10 men, after substitute David Pearson was sent off in in injury-time for disputing a penalty denial.

Chessington had scored twice in the first half through Robbie Burns on 30 minutes and Darren Smith five minutes later, which should have been enough to finish off Bedfont Green, but some woeful defending on two occasions let in the home side to make it 2-2 at half-time.

The second half was more about the referee, who finished with eight players booked and two sending-offs, one on each side.

Not one offence was for tackles, late or otherwise, but all for dissent!

Earlier in the week, Chessington played Colliers Wood at home and won 1-0 thanks to a fantastic goal scored by young defender Matt Bennett.

On 40 minutes, Chessington had a corner, which was defended well, but the ball fell to Bennett on the edge of the penalty box and with his back to goal, he acrobatically scored with an overhead kick to win the points for Chessington.

Chessington host Dorking on Saturday (3pm) and then welcome Banstead Athletic on Tuesday (7.45pm).
