Westfield 2 Worcester Park 4

Two late goals saw Worcester Park seal a fine victory at Westfield on Saturday, writes Guy Glass.

There had been chances at both ends, with Park keeper Peter King saving a free kick and attacker John Kennedy shooting wide, when Park took a 17th-minute lead.

This stung Westfield into action and Ellis took advantage of poor marking to head an equaliser from the corner.

Westfield had more of the game as the break approached but Park were able to deal with the pressure, with King making a second good stop.

Park started the better after the break but were unable to force an opening as Westfield defended well.

At this stage Park ran the game but were unable to turn pressure into goals and still the final ball was off target.

On the hour Westfield attacked and their number eight fired a fierce shot over King's bar.

After Lee Farley replaced the lacklustre Kennedy, Park played some of their best football.

Carl Cheney found Dean Callaghan on the edge of the Westfield box were his close control and neat footwork beat two opponents to drill the ball past the static home keeper to give Park a 2-1 lead after 68 minutes.

But four minutes later, a foul by Cheney allowed Westfield to level again with a penalty.

It could have been worse for the visitors had King not made a smart save three minutes later.

After Dean Bird replaced Callicott on 79 minutes, Park went in search of the winner.

Six minutes from time, Darren Beal's free kick was headeddown by Williams and Bird slotted the ball home to again give Park the lead.

Park were not finished and on 88 minutes King gathered the ball, launched it long and Farley's pace took him clear of the home defence to lob the ball over the advancing keeper and into the net to seal a deserved win for Park by 4-2.

Worcester Park man of the match: David Knowlden for his non stop work and encouragement.
