Merton cruised into the final of the Surrey Bowl with an emphatic 51-10 victory over higher League opposition Reigate on Saturday.

They will face either Raynes Park or London Media in Sunday's final at Imber Court, with Mike Reid, Dan Somerset, Dean Evans and Tom Wood set to return.

When Merton and Reigate met six weeks ago, the Morden Rec outfit snatched victory by a mere three points in the dying minutes, but this time they led by 37 points at half-time.

Merton promoted the Quinns, father and son, from their second string, with Trevor starting the match and Neil coming on as a late substitute.

Frankie Murray kicked three early penalties, and tries followed from Mike Garnett, Garth Hume and Darren Glossop.

Merton's fourth try came under bizarre circumstances. As the visitors went to drop out on the 22, the ball drifted back over the line where Glossop touched down again.

In the second-half, Merton took their foot off the gas, and the visitors replied with two tries.

But, with Green and James gaining a lot of lineout possession, and man-of-the-match Sowersby winning a few scrums against the head, Newbury made two touch downs for Merton. Murray added the extra points to give him six out of six conversions.
