EVER PRESENTS: Three local runners, who have completed all of the London marathons since the inaugural race in 1981, got around the course for the 27th time on Sunday. The oldest of the trio, Jeffery Gordon of Thames Hare & Hounds, was more than an hour slower than last year (5:23:51). Ranelagh's John Hanscomb, 71, who also ran the Bushy Park time trial on Saturday, was only six minutes slower than last year (4:35:41). Clubmate Mike Peace, 57, was more than 40 minutes slower than last year (3:57:27), after running steadily due to a calf injury There are 24 remaining ever presents for the event.
ADE HAS A BALL: Former Paralympic basketball player Ade Adepitan completed his wheelchair marathon debut in 2:31:55, well within his target time of three hours. Adepitan, 44, now a successful TV presenter, has been training with the Velocity Wheelchair Racing club since the beginning of the year and prepared for Sunday's race with a 21-mile run in Richmond Park.MINI MARVEL: Jack Binstead from Chessington won the boys' 11-13-year-olds mini-marathon wheelchair race over the final 2.65 miles of the full marathon course from Southwark Bridge to The Mall. His time of 18:27 was nearly four minutes faster than he clocked last year Sarah Mosenthal, from Southfields, was also faster than she managed last year as she finished fifth in the girls' 14-17 race.
