Leatherhead Swimming Club finished an excellent third at this year's Speedo League B final at Ponds Forge, Sheffield on Sunday.

The club had three individual winners - David Andrews in the boys' U13 100m breaststroke (1:13.52), Matt Lloyd in the U15 boys' 100m backstroke (1:04.69) and Grace Archer in the girls' U15 100m butterfly (1:06.62).

There were then two outstanding relay performances to lift Leatherhead into third place.

Charlotte Hobbs (backstroke), Sian Aherne (breaststroke), Grace Archer (butterfly) and Hannah Shore powered their way to a comprehensive victory in the girls' U15 medley event.

The men's open 6x50m squadron team, unbeaten for more than two years, enjoyed a crushing victory in their event.

Simon Churchman gave them a great start by swimming a national qualifying time for the 50m freestyle in the opening leg and Chris Ashton, Will Philpot, Stuart McCrea, David Ashton and Matt Kidd completed their success.

The key to success in the Speedo League is making sure you finish in the top half of as many races as possible and Leatherhead achieved this in 28 of the 50 events.

Leatherhead also took the award for best supporters for the third time in four years, having adopted a pirate theme for the event.
