Reigning British Super ICA kart champion Ollie Millroy bounced back from disappointing qualifying sessions to take two top-10 finishes in the second round of the Italian Open Masters at Ugento last weekend.

The Claygate youngster, who celebrated his 17th birthday on Saturday, and the works Zanardi team struggled to find the pace on Friday and Saturday and qualified 24th for the first of two heats in which he lined up 16th.

Millroy then came 10th and 16th in the two heats, earning him a 17th place start for the first final on Sunday. A storming drive saw him finish a superb sixth.

In the second final Millroy started sixth and, without the benefit of four fresh tyres, did well to come eighth.

"It was a weird weekend," said Ollie.

"At the start we were around 1.5 seconds off the pace, but by the end we were down to just two tenths. Everything came together at the end."

Ollie stayed at the Southern Italian track for a day's testing in preparation for the opening round of the European Championship which kicks off at Ugento in two weeks' time.
