Saturday's Guineas trials at Kempton Park are likely to highlight some horses worth backing in the future, writes Claire Fortescue.

The Masaka Stakes and the Easter Stakes, both sponsored by intercasino.co.uk, have produced good winners in recent years.

Vista Bella and Hathrath, winners of the Masaka in 2005 and 2004 respectively, went on to be placed in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket.

The 2005 Easter Stakes winner, Rebel Rebel also managed to run into a place at Newmarket, finishing a clear second to Footstepsinthesand.

Entries for this year's Easter Stakes include the Andrew Balding-trained Water Mill. He showed his liking for Kempton and its Polytrack surface when winning a hot juvenile race over seven furlongs in September, his only start to date.

Water Mill may face Barry Hills' chestnut colt, Prime Defender. He was unlucky not to beat Doctor Brown in a York sales race, having been hampered close to home and was not far behind Triple Crown pretender Teofilo in the Dew-hurst Stakes at Newmarket.

The Masaka Stakes entries boast a number of lightly-raced, unexposed types.

Princess Valerina could bid for a Barry Hills big-race double and looks a quality animal in the making.

From the first crop of Arlington Million winner, filly Beat Hollow captured a hot Newmarket maiden by two lengths.

First race is at 2.25pm with tickets starting from £15.
