England U18s have called up hooker Edward Stagg for their final warm-up match before this season's AER European Championship against Scotland at Percy Park RFC in North Shields on Sunday, March 25 (noon).

Stagg, of Colston's Collegiate School, Bath and Dorset & Wiltshire, replaces James Clark of London Irish ,who has been included in England's other U18 squad for the forthcoming Six Nations Championship in Glasgow.

England, who defeated Italy 29-15 in Mantova last weekend in a game for which caps were awarded, have named a squad of 27 for the Scotland match but are awaiting a fitness update on winger Sam Smith (Cranleigh School, NEC Harlequins and Surrey).

Smith missed the Italy game because of an ankle injury and his fitness will be assessed over the weekend.

Ross Swanson of Harrow School, who played in the development match against Wales in Bristol three weeks ago, will remain with the squad this weekend as a utility back.

England will not award caps for the Scotland game which is likely to be played in 20 minute quarters to allow the coaches to have a final look at all members of the squad ahead of the AER Championship.

England will be attempting to win the AER competition for a third consecutive season and begin their title defence in Biarritz with a match against Portugal on April 1.
