Morden's Lenny Daws is on the verge of securing a much-anticipated rematch with Barry Morrison and won't have to travel to Scotland to do it, writes James Cracknell.

The former Rosehill ABC member lost his British Light-Welterweight title to the Scot in a controversial split-decision at Alexandra Palace in January.

Daws had feared he faced a trip north of the border to take on Morrison in front of his own fans, but the Excel Centre in London's Docklands is now likely to host the bout in May.

The original contest went the distance, leaving pundits to hail it as the domestic fight of the year.

And Lightening' Lenny, who felt he was a little ring rusty for January's fight, has vowed to settle the score in front of his loyal fans, the Morden Massive'.

"It is 90 per cent certain that the rematch will happen, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed," he said this week.

"I'm really working on my fitness and I'm going to much better prepared this time around.

The fight will come 12 months after Daws beat Nigel Wright to claim the belt in 2006 for the first time in his career.

The Sutton-based scrapper Daws was unlucky not to win the opening defence of his crown against Morrison, with one judge scoring the fight 117-112 in his favour.

But Daws, previously undefeated, has admitted he hadn't done enough to retain his title.

"I didn't really fight for it, and I probably underestimated my opponent, but it won't happen again," he added.
