Injury-hit Staines Town stretched their unbeaten run to four with a 1-1 draw at Ashford Town (Middlesex) on Tuesday night, writes Steve Parsons.

The visitors dominated from the kick off with Ali Chaabaan bringing a brave smothering save out of keeper Paul Burgess, one of four former Swans in the hosts' starting XI.

The breakthrough came after 14 minutes after Stuart Bamford's trip of Mark Nwokeji had led to referee Stuart Bamford pointing straight to the spot. Chaaban converted the penalty.

That spurred the home side into life and Scott Harris forced Shaun Allaway into a reflex save as Ashford began to dominate.

It wasn't until eight minutes after the restart that Ashford drew level. Staines failed to clear a half chance, and Paul Johnson slammed the ball into the roof of the net.

There were few real chances in the remainder of the game, and at the end the players and spectators simply seemed glad to get back into the warmth.
