Moving to a new home can be traumatic experience but Harlequins RL new boy Chris Melling has made the task seem like child's play.

Melling returns to old club Wigan Warriors on Friday having made an impressive start to the season.

He deputised for Mark McLinden at full-back for the first three games, but with the Aussie returning to fitness switched to the wing for Saturday's clash with Warrington.

Melling has no regrets about swapping the rugby league goldfish bowl of Lancashire for the capital.

"Everyone said I wouldn't like it down here and that I won't fit in, but the boys have made feel really welcome," he said.

"I'm really enjoying it and a place this big means you can do whatever you want, whenever you want.

"I do set myself goals but no in terms of where I want to be.

"I have come down here from a big rugby club and hopefully I can help the cause of establishing Quins as a contender in Super League.

"The main aim is consistently to get in the match day squad, show what I can do and earn another contract by the end of the year, whether that be here or elsewhere in the league."

Melling has endured a tough start to his career after sustaining serious cruciate ligament damage to his knee soon after making his Warriors debut.

But he earned plaudits for his display in the shock win over St Helens and has kept his place in Brian McDermott's side since.
