Darcie Mead led Surbiton High School to a 23-medal haul at the British Schools Girls Alpine Skiing Championships in France this week.
The 17-year-old, who won slalom silver and giant slalom bronze at the Welsh national championships in Switzerland earlier this month, won the giant slalom as the school’s A team – also featuring Bella Colley and Amelia Vegting – won the team giant slalom and dual slalom title.
Colley also claimed an U16 slalom, GS and combined bronze, while Vegting collected an U18 bronze in the combined event.
The school’s B team lifted the Eve Alcott Memorial Cup.
It completed a memorable sporting week for the Surbiton Crescent school after they celebrated U14 and U19 girls team gold medals at the London Regional Gymnastics Floor & Vault Championships at Landy Eleanor Holles School, Hampton, at the weekend.
The two teams, will now represent the school and the London region at the
national finals in May.
The mixed U11s team, entered in the competition for the first time, made an encouraging competitive debut with a silver medal.
