Hercules Wimbledon AC face a busy weekend with track & field athletes in action in league meetings, while others are involved in promoting and running in the Perserverance 5km road race (incorporating the Surrey championships).

The road race takes place on Sunday morning and runners set off from Wimbledon Park athletics stadium at 9.30am.

Entries are being taken on the day and will cost £10 for seniors and £5 for U17.

There will be vouchers worth £50, £40 and £30 for the top three finishers with medals for the top three seniors and veterans categories in the Surrey championships.

Elsewhere, Hercules Wimbledon's sprinters warmed up for Saturday's crucial Southern Men's League final at the Thames Valley Athletics Centre, Eton with a string of fine performances in an open meeting at Lee Valley.

Max Mondelli clocked a personal best of 10.78 seconds in winning his race while Richard Agyapong (10.94secs), Joseph Chukwuadinula (10.97secs) teenager Rechmiel Miller (10.98secs) and Philip Mauge (10.99secs) also went inside 11 seconds with personal best performances.

The club's women are also in action this weekend when they contest their final Southern Women's league Premier Division match at Horspath Track, Oxford on Saturday.

Hercules Wimbledon's Amy Aronson closed in on the club record held by marathon running mum Claire Grima when she won the women's race in the Self Transcendence 5km road race in Battersea Park in 18 minutes, 19 seconds.  

Her time was just 12 seconds slower than the record set by Grima in May 2011, and puts her third in the club's all-time rankings.

Hercules Wimbledon's United States-based Medena Knespl came third in the women's race in the Boston Triathlon.

She completed the half-mile swim, nine-mile bike ride and 4.4-mile run in one hour, two minutes, 38 seconds, less than two minutes behind the winner.
