Hercules Wimbledon AC teenager Harris Mier enjoyed a superb weekend setting a club record in the Wimbledon Common parkrun on Saturday and smashing his personal best for 1,500m in the Ebbisham League meeting on Sunday.

Harris was just pipped for the top age-graded performance of the day as he finished 16th out of 367 runners in 18 minutes, 50 seconds to slice 10 seconds off the Hercules Wimbledon boys U13 club record he set a fortnight earlier.

Then, on Sunday, Harris turned out in the final Ebbisham Boys' League match of the season at Stompond Lane, Walton, where he was the only Hercules Wimbledon A string winner.

He took the U13 1,500m in 5:00.9, shaving eight seconds off his previous best set in the Ebbisham League meeting at Croydon last month.

Harris was the best of a record 32 Hercules Wimbledon athletes who turned out in the Ebbisham League match at Walton - with Tomer Tarragano taking the B race in 5:09.4, Hercules Wimbledon secured maximum points in the U15 1,500m.

Other highly placed Hercules Wimbledon athletes in the U15 events at Walton were Sam Chetwynd, second in the shot A and third in the 400m B, Joshua Clark-Bell, second in the 100m and 200m B races, Sam Oswald and Sam Hudspith, third in the 800m A and B races, Nat Purnell third in the 1,500m B and Hudspith second in the shot B.

The Hercules Wimbledon 4x200m relay team of Taj Duncan, Clark-Bell, Filip Dabinski and Chetwynd raced to third.

Elliot Mier and Peter Riches were third in the U13 800m A and B races and Tom Oswald was third in the javelin A event.

At the other end of the age range, former marathon international Steve Badgery, 67, continued his return to racing when he finished 146th in the Elmbridge 10km road race, also at Walton, on Sunday in 43:43.

He was seventh in the men's over 65 category in his third race since May last year.
