Ola Afolabi has finally conceded defeat to Marco Huck after losing his WBO world cruiserweight fight against the German in Berlin on Saturday.

The fight was the third time the two had met, with Huck winning the first and the second being a draw. Afolabi was confident of regaining the title he lost to Serbian-born Huck in 2009 but was defeated on points, with judge Lahcen Oumghar scoring the fight a draw at 114-114, John Madfis marking it 117-111 to Huck and Deon Dwarte scoring it 115-113 to Huck.

"I blocked a lot of shots but he just wouldn't stop going and the best man won," said 33-year-old Afolabi, a former Battersea ABC representative.

"He did a good job and was aggressive. His style will always give me problems, he threw a lot of shots and he wouldn't stop going.

"The 117-111 decision was ridiculous, even if they give it to him then Madfis should have given it to him by one point.

"The scoring was a home town decision so that's what you expect. I tried my best, the judges saw it one way so whatever they say stays."

With the Huck rivalry officially over, Afolabi is now hoping his management team at Klitschko Brother's K2 Promotions can land him another world title shot against either of the three other main title holders - Guillermo Jones (WBA), Krzysztof Włodarczyk (WBC) and Yoan Pablo Hernández (IBF) but knows he will have to get back to winning ways before he can land himself another tilt.

"I just want to work myself up again then see what happens, there is other big names I can fight so whatever K2 says goes," Afolabi continues.

"I just have to go back to the gym and work more on my skills but I'm getting better all the time, comparing where I was eight years ago I am truly proud of myself."
