Croydon Harriers scooped four gold, 15 silver and 17 bronze medals at the Surrey County Athletics Championships at Kingston last weekend.

Leading the way was Zoe Fossett, who bagged a pair of golds in the U20 women’s javelin (26.91m) and triple jump (10.36m).

Younger sister Emma also bagged a brace of bronze medals, in the U17 women’s javelin (33.33m) and hammer (30.56m).

In the throws, Omar Reid shone as he surpassed the English Schools qualifying distance to take the Surrey title in the U20 men’s discus with a throw of 43.15m.

His twin sister, Tamara, grabbed three medals with silvers in the discus (30.47m) and shot (9.56m), and a bronze in the hammer (29.44m).

The club’s fourth gold came courtesy of Meikhi Hemans in the U13 boys' 75m hurdles in 13.26secs.

Reuben Vaughan grabbed bronze in the same race, and to add to his silver in the shot (7.17m).

Long distance: Stevie Lawrence en route to a silver medal in the U17 1,500m

Two Harriers notched a pair of silver medals - in the sprints, Ashleigh Clarke was a worthy runner-up in the U20 women’s 100m (12.46s) and 200m (25.03s).

In the endurance events, the 1,500m proved a happy hunting ground for silverware, with Peter Chambers (U20, 4:06.76), Stevie Lawrence (U17, 4:54.06) and David White (seniors, 4:06.36) all runners-up.

Eslewhere, at the Bedford International Games, Shirin Irving was sixth in the 100m hurdles in 14.83s, and at the Riddlesdown parkRun, Brendan Murphy was first home, his fifth win on the course.
