Hercules Wimbledon's Andrew Penney showed good form in leading the old boys team to an individual and team triumph in a match with King's College School staff and pupils on Wimbledon Common on Saturday.

Penney, having his final competitive outing before contesting the Surrey cross-country championships next month, won in a course record time of 13 minutes, six seconds.

Another Hercules Wimbledon runner, James Davis, finished runner-up in the Kent Christmas Cracker five miles road race near Deal on Sunday in 25:42.

Hercules Wimbledon runners get the chance to build up their Christmas Day appetites by competing in the annual Lauriston Runners' Club's 30-minute paarlauf on Christmas Day.

The race, in which pairs of runners run alternately for 30 minutes, starts on Wimbledon Common opposite the junction with Lauriston Road at 11am.

After the race, runners and officials will enjoy seasonal refreshments of mince pies and mulled wine at Lauriston Cottage.

Hercules Wimbledon end their 2012 competitive programme in the Hercules Wimbledon/Lauriston Runners' Club's five miles multi-terrain race on Saturday, December 29.

The race starts at 2pm on Wimbledon Common close to the junction of West Place and North View.
